Silver Sage Village
A pioneer senior cohousing community in Colorado
Silver Sage Village is a cohousing community in Boulder, Colorado, made up of sixteen households and twenty-four members. Each household has its own home, arranged around a central courtyard, and also share a 5,000 square foot common house, which contains an industrial kitchen, a dining room, a media room, a craft room, an exercise room, a meditation room, a guest room, storage spaces, and spaces used by local artists.
Silver Sage Village is located in the rapidly developing and culturally-vibrant “nobo” area of Boulder. The community is within walking distance of open spaces and hiking trails, restaurants, galleries, a library, grocery store, doctors, dentists, wineries, gyms, and low-cost public transportation.
They write of themselves: “Sagers are enthusiastic about the philosophy of ‘aging in community’ and are actively exploring ways we might accomplish this. We are musicians, volunteers, cyclists, hikers, cooks, gardeners, artists, loafers, adventurers, writers, scientists, travelers, readers, philosophers and crafters – interests and talents that make our community a vibrant place to live. While many of us are retired, a number are still employed in a variety of occupations, further adding to the vitality of our community.”
There are sometimes opportunities for new folks to join Silver Sage; their website gives more details.
