The Age of Creativity
UK-based activities and resources to support active creativity for older people
A British organisation, The Age of Creativity provides leadership, profile, advocacy and infrastructure development for everyone who believes in the value of creativity for older people. Established in 2012 with funding from the Baring Foundation, the project aims to support professionals working in arts, health, culture, social care, academia, voluntary and community sectors to enable more older people to take part creative activities and enjoy improved health, well-being and quality of life.
In October 2017 AoC organised the first English Festival of Arts and Creativity for Older People, which went with a bang and laid the foundations for future festivals. The ‘10 Ageing Provocateurs’ who presented their ideas during the festival prompted much interest and debate on social media. Hundreds of events took place across the country, many of which were new activities specifically generated for the festival.
Planning for the 2018 and 2019 AoC Festivals is already underway.
