Living well, dying well
Encouraging reflection on how to approach death while living life fully.
The UK-based organisation Living Well Dying Well encourages reflection on how to live life fully while planning and preparing for the end of life. Asking the key question ‘Why do we prepare so well for birth, yet give so little attention to preparing for death?’ their courses, training, conversations and services help people think about it, talk about it, and plan for it, all in a safe and supportive way.
An important aspect of LWDW’s work is the training and support of end-of-life or ‘death doulas’, trained non-medical companions who assist a person before and during dying, providing emotional support and physical help to them and their supporters through the end-of-life transition.
LWDW also runs training seminars for therapists and health practitioners to build skills and support them to find ways of feeling more comfortable around the subject of death in their professional life.
